As the founder of the CNY Women’s Network, I get to know a lot of Central New York businesses and the people behind them. Pawn Pro in Syracuse is one that has genuinely surprised me.
I’ve always been a thrifty girl, so buying secondhand is nothing new to me. But Pawn Pro feels very different from a thrift store and, honestly, from what you might picture when you hear “pawn shop.”
On my most recent visit, I wasn’t there to shop. I had a few valuable pieces I was ready to part with, but I really didn’t want to deal with selling them online.
So I brought them to Pawn Pro.
The team took their time, answered all of my questions, and walked me through the appraisal without making me feel rushed or pressured.
That’s what I appreciate most about Pawn Pro. The team is warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely wants you to feel good about the experience.
It’s one of the reasons I keep coming back. I love supporting local businesses, especially when the people behind them make you feel taken care of.

Pawn Pro is a locally owned, second-generation family business located at 2714 Erie Blvd E in Syracuse, New York.
For more than 15 years, they’ve been buying, selling, trading, and repairing a wide variety of merchandise while creating a customer experience that feels different from the traditional pawn shop stereotype.
Pawn Pro is open seven days a week, and inventory changes constantly. New products hit the sales floor every day, while their website features weekly drops with rotating categories and fresh finds.

The Team Behind Pawn Pro
A big part of what makes Pawn Pro feel different is the team behind it.
Pawn Pro has a woman-run management team, with two women managers leading a staff with years of hands-on experience and specialized knowledge. Their sales floor appraisers are trained to provide educated, trustworthy evaluations across a wide variety of merchandise, while a dedicated refurbishment team tests, cleans, repairs, and restores items before they’re put out for sale.
Meet Amanda, manager at Pawn Pro
Amanda is one of the managers at Pawn Pro and has been part of the team for nearly 11 years.
She started as a personal assistant while working toward her bachelor’s degree and later earned her MBA as her role within the business continued to grow. Today, she’s involved in just about every part of Pawn Pro, from day-to-day operations and inventory to hiring, merchandising, marketing, and promotions.
What started as a college job has turned into a career and a big part of Amanda’s life. After growing alongside Pawn Pro for more than a decade, she’s especially passionate about changing people’s perception of the pawn industry.
